There's some glare and I'm not sure the lighting is optimal, but overall this is it's a pretty good digital image of a remarkable painting. Other portraits I've seen by von Lenbach tend to be slightly romanticized with some dramatic lighting effects, but in this spooky and off-kilter image the artist and his family look like a prototype for the Addams Family.
von Lenbach's ghostly daughter Marion steals the picture, looking like she'd be equally at home in The Shining or The Sixth Sense. Notable portraits of her can also be seen at the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
