I came across this painting on a visit to the Louvre recently. I was quite taken with it, although it's clearly not one of their big attractions - it's not illustrated in the Louvre's online database, which is fairly complete, nor is it included in Lawrence Gowing's wonderfully massive Paintings in the Louvre either.
This piece is quite dark and few of the painting galleries at the Louvre are well lit, so I was quite happy with the way the photograph turned out.
