For Hallowe'en I chose this macabre scene from the dark imagination of Pieter Brueghel.
It's a famous painting, but the specific details are not that well known because they're hard to make out in most reproductions. But I found four HUGE detail image at the Wikimedia site that are deliciously creepy.
