Here's your chance to see one of Chuck Close's huge portraits close-up! MoMA's incredible scan is good enough for our TrueSize utility to display the painting at its full size of 7 feet by 8 feet without much pixelization - although I don't think you'll be able to make out any details of the face at that magnification.
(Note: Netscape/Mozilla browsers seem to have trouble displaying the image at this enormous size. But in my testing, Internet Explorer and Opera had no trouble doing so.)
Close is one of the great artists of our age. A master painter, printmaker and photographer, his works are both visually stunning and quietly conceptual. He has recently been experimenting with Daguerreotypes and the most recent work I have seen is a hologram. Stay tuned.
