The Wyeth Family: Three Generations of American Art

Dulwich Picture Gallery, London, England
June 9 - August 22, 2010

"Dulwich Picture Gallery continues its consistently surprising exhibition programme in 2010 with a show that I think no other institution in this country would have dared do, least of all Tate Britain; an exhibition about the Wyeth family of artists, whose best known member, Andrew, divides Americans equally" - The Telegraph, 29th December 2009

Americans may be divided, but this Canadian would rank Andrew Wyeth as one of the United States' most accomplished painters. Let's face it: Andrew Wyeth cannot meaningfully be compared with the great Pop artists or abstract painters or conceptual artists, but he is surely one of the great Realist school painters of the 20th century of any nationality. Do not miss this rare chance to see Andrew Wyeth's work in Europe.

BTW, N.C. Wyeth is also a semi-legend for his numerous virile book illustrations. As for Jamie Wyeth, the most damning thing I can say about him is that he has yet to fully distinguish himself from his forebears, and at age 64 time is running out for him to do so.
