Art and Religion

Our featured exhibit for April is Christus Rex. This is a vast site, part of which is devoted to an exhibition of religious art, mainly from Vatican museums. Click here for a brief review of the site.

This month we are also featuring an excellent article by Joseph Phelan entitled Themes in Art: The Passion of Christ. This quote from the article really says it all: "For over 400 years, from the time of Giotto to Rembrandt, Western painting is inconceivable without the vision and the stories contained in the Bible." This piece is a good overview of the story, the symbolism, and the key painters. Click here to read it now.
