The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art has revamped its website and added a couple of dozen amazing zoom-in scans since the last time I looked around.
I'm not a huge fan of those interfaces where you zoom in on a picture through a small window, progressively seeing less and less of the whole. But I have to admit the photography is among the best I have ever seen. Peer at these paintings at 100% magnification and it feels like you're within centimeters of the real thing. It may even be better than seeing the real thing, because the lighting on the pictures is superb, bringing out every detail of the brushwork.
